Keeley Oxblood Overdrive
The Keeley Oxblood is based on Klon Centaur but it can produce a lot more gain without losing the classic tone.
Most pedal companies in recent years have all come out with their own overdrive pedals based on a certain mythical beast. The original Klon Centaur is known for its simple three control layout and amazing low gain overdrive that really sings with a beautiful midrange. The Keeley Oxblood wants to do so much more though and while it is based on the same circuit it can produce a lot more gain without losing the classic tone.
Magical and Mythical
One of the things that gave the original 'K' style overdrive its special flavour was its set of high quality diodes which were recently thought to be untraceable. The Oxblood of course has very similar diodes available in its 'Mythical' setting for a large warm tone that gets incredibly close to the real thing.
If you want more gain or a tighter tone however then the best way is to have a second set of diodes switchable on the inside. So that is exactly what Keeley did giving you the 'Magical' diodes for a much harsher and tighter distortion that can get kind of near fuzz at times.
Phat Tone
One things that some people didn't like with the 'K' style overdrives is that the low end output was a bit too low. This means your tone could be a bit thin and lacking in punch at times. Keeley fixed this by adding in what they call the Phat switch giving you the option to either have a 736hz or 66hz low cut to fit it to your rig and band.
Completely Original Circuit
One of the biggest benefits of the Oxblood is that it is a completely original circuit. This means that they were not limited by output or controls and gave you the same iconic tones you are after plus a whole extra layer of gain so this is the one overdrive you will ever need.
