Specifically, the woods used are solid Queensland maple for the sides and back, and solid sitka spruce for the top. The timbre is clear, defined, dynamic. Released in June 2011, The SRS series of guitars marked the beginning of a new era at Maton. A move towards all Solid timbers for everything in the range, a complete overhaul, and a re-imagining of bracing patterns, radius tops, and improved body construction. The culmination of years of development and fine-tuning by Maton's senior luthiers and production designers.

New bracing system.

A forward shifting of the X braces and the shifting of scallop peaks to nodal points around the soundboard help to enhance the vibration of the top. The shifting of the X braces also allowed the inclusion of a second, parallel tone bar which allows the scalloping of both tone bars, and spreads the load while reducing mass.
