Description
Mongay Shellac
Natural lacquer with a glossy finish, especially used in classic and acoustic guitar finishes. It acts as insulation, primer and finishing at the same time in porous woods, so its most frequent use is that of guitar finishing.
Laca Dry gum by evaporation, is extracted from scales and diluted with alcohol for greater comfort of the luthier or technician.
By adding dyes to alcohol, thousands of transparent tones can be achieved, thus adapting to the end chosen by the user.
For a correct application, the wood must be sanded, clean and dry, and without the remains of other lacquers, so the wood must be pickled and without other polishes or finishes. Although you can use a brush or other applicators, the traditional method for guitars is a doll or better known as a "doll", loading and polishing slowly, with the doll not too loaded, and letting it dry between layers. With 3 or 4 layers the desired finish is achieved, but all the desired layers can be given, until a glossy and uniform finish is achieved.
